Fireside Resort

1/4

The Jackson Hole valley of Wyoming is a mecca for snowboarders, skiers, hikers, mountain bikers. Acting as the gateway into several big name national parks (Grand Teton and Yellowstone just to name drop two), Jackson Hole would top any dog’s bucket list of great American destinations. Our favorite local dog spot is the Snake River Dike where they can be let loose to run until the point of exhaustion with an incredible views of the Grand Tetons for you to enjoy. For an even more extensive network of dog-friendly trails, head to Cache Creek.

With so many miles of potential sniffing to cover, you’ll both want to sink into sleep somewhere as amazing as the local landscape. The exceptionally dog-friendly Fireside Resort understands why dogs deserve as much pampering as you when on holiday. The modern, yet rustic and luxurious cabins at the resort create a dog dream holiday. Roast marshmallows by the fire together under the lights of the Milky Way. Cozy fireplaces warm up cold bums in the homesteader cabins and full kitchens set the scene for cooking in and the traditional scrap begging ceremony.

Fur parents will love the incredibly plush mattresses, luxurious linens and goose bedding that will make it hard to get out of bed every morning. Private furnished decks can host dinners in good weather and free WiFi and local artworks round out this decadent yet rustic experience.

Why dogs love staying here: “Each of the Rolling Cabins is its own separate unit. Noise and disturbances are kept at a minimum because there is no one staying on the other side of the wall. You won’t be disturbed by others pets and your pet won’t be constantly hearing unfamiliar voices through the wall.“

Coeur D’Alene is Eden for nature lovers and what better way to experience the great outdoors than next to the greatest walk enthusiast of them all, your dog. Hike through the Settles Grove of Ancient Cedars with a picnic basket filled with your fur baby’s favorite treats — and perhaps a sandwich or two for you. A plethora of local wineries and breweries round out the experience with many offering a dog-friendly place to sip the fruits of local labors.

If your dog is perhaps in need of some doggie play time, a stay at the Roosevelt Inn ensures this demand is satisfied. Resident Golden Retriever Rohan welcomes guests and dogs to the Inn with a Creature Comfort Gift Kit that includes: bedding and towels, water & food bowls, treats, a tennis ball and a keepsake bandanna as a souvenir to proudly wear at home. The Inn’s grounds provide plenty of places for the dogs to roam and the local staff are always waiting to dish out some treats to deserving dogs.

Some details the dogs might overlook but you won’t center around the historic elegance of the Inn. As Coeur d’Alene’s oldest remaining schoolhouse, the building itself dates back to 1905. Don’t turn down the bread pudding that welcomes your arrival nor the nightly turndown service. A wine and cheese reception with the manager can be a great cause to mingle or slip away for some time alone in the hot tub and sauna.
