Golf isn’t what usually brings people to Toronto, but if you’re a golf fan and looking to get on the links while visiting this world-class city, below are some of the best golf courses near Toronto. Note that Toronto is very spread out, so renting a car is a good idea as these courses aren’t quite in the downtown core.

Copper Creek

Copper Creek is located in Kleinburg, Ontario, roughly a 10 minute drive from Pearson International Airport or 35 minutes from downtown Toronto. Keeping Toronto’s heavy traffic situation in mind, give yourself plenty of time to arrive before tee off. The course is situated among rolling hills, winding rivers and dense forest with the landscape evoking the essence of a Group of Seven painting. The clubhouse is 40,000 square feet complete with most amenities and often hosting weddings, birthday parties, anniversaries to special dinners for corporate events. The course is a par 72 and 7074 yards from the back tees naturally called the copper tees.

Angus Glen Golf Club is a world-class facility located in Markham, and is well known for hosting PGA tournaments such as the Canadian Open. Angus Glen consists of the two championship North Course and South Course and has hosted PGA events on both. The North Course is a par 72 that measures 7016 yards from the tips, excluding the Canadian Open tees which are a lengthy 7403 yards. The South Course is a par 72 as well and measures 7023 yards from the tips, excluding the Canadian Open tees which bring its total span to 7407 yards. Besides offering many other services including conference facilities, a big draw is coming to walk the same fairways in the footsteps of many of the world’s top golfers.

The Heathlands is an acclaimed links course which makes golfers feel as though they are strolling on the fairways in Scotland. Hoot is loaded with water and bunkers from tee to green. Toot is a parkland style course featuring wide open fairways and carefully placed bunkers to penalize errant drives.
