How To Spend The Perfect American Summer

By Johnny Ward,

We’ve got one month left of summertime, that time of year when suddenly, long hours in the office become less important and when long weekends and evening BBQs rise on the list of priorities. It’s a time when friends and family gather to enjoy the sunshine and each other’s company, and when people love to travel to new summer spots. There are so many great places in the U.S. to explore–you can have a completely new experience from home without even leaving the country. Check out our list for some of the greatest American summer destinations:

Relaxing in your luxurious resort. Dining on fresh seafood while watching the sun set over the gorgeous ocean. These are just a few of the things you can enjoy while you’re on your summer holiday in Maui. It’s the perfect Hawaiian island for people who are looking for that perfect balance between the highly popular and bustling islands, and the super quiet destinations. Maui has plenty to do without being overwhelmed with tourists. Here, you can enjoy breathtaking snorkeling trips, go golfing along fairways skimming the coastline, and lounge away on some of the most gorgeous white sand beaches in the country. For the fun and funky of spirit, San Francisco has more to offer than you could ever even imagine. This city tends to draw a free-spirited crowd with its colorful jumble of neighborhoods, cafes, districts and flair that’s unlike any other city in the U.S. The summertime is the best time of year to visit San Francisco, when the fog tends to lift and the sun shines over this exciting city. Yet it stays cool enough during the day that you can be out exploring without feeling fatigued from heat in the summer months. In San Francisco, you can spend days venturing out to Fisherman’s Wharf, the Marina, sampling the foods from all the eclectic cafes serving up food from around the world, and poking into the different neighborhoods and districts. Each part of the city serves up a different vibe and flair that all combine into a culturally diverse city like no other. From insanely gorgeous sights and scenery to great nightlife, bookstores, museums and cafes, you can spend your days exploring and your nights relaxing in a gorgeous hotel like the Ritz Carlton.

Napa Valley is perfect for those who want for a high-end summer destination where they can enjoy great food and wine. People flock from all over the world to taste the grapes in Napa Valley, and you could spend all summer exploring the abundance of vineyards and incredible selection of wines here. You can opt to visit the famous wineries that tend to draw a crowd, or stick to the smaller family-run wineries that might be less well known, but offer a more intimate experience. You can take a personalized wine tour through several wineries in a day that offers a great variety of what the Napa Valley has to offer. Castello di Amorosa Winery, Schramsberg Vineyards and Frog’s Leap are some of the best spots to visit while you’re here. And to round out your trip, take a ride on the Napa Valley Wine Train where you’ll enjoy a decadent dinner and fantastic wines aboard a train that departs from downtown and brings you through the Napa Valley and 18 miles of gorgeous vineyards before returning back. To complete the decadent but relaxing visit, be sure to book a room at the stunning Milliken Creek Inn & Spa, an experience you’ll never forget.

For a luxurious summer trip, Chicago can offer everything you could ever want to do. It’s one of those cities that just comes to life in the summer months, with a lively ambiance as the sun warms the city. Restaurant patios buzz with outdoor dining, Navy Pier is a flurry with visitors and a grand fireworks show for the 4th of July, and outdoor markets and festivals spring up all over the place. It’s a great summer destination for those looking for an urban experience, but still craving a friendly atmosphere and abundance of outdoor things to do just outside the city. There are a lot of luxury experiences to be had, but one of my favorite hotels to stay in is the elegant Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago.
